Using Instagram on your classroom.

This will be the first teaching idea by Teacher's Path. Have a nice reading, everyone.

Okay, Talking about Intagram nowadays, everyone knows how to operate it.
Everyone knows how to post and give "Love" or comment in this kind of social media.

Yes,
Instagram is one of famous social medias nowadays instead of Facebook and Twitter.
As an up to date teacher, you need to use this Instagram in your classroom, teacher.
Wow, you will easily get student's interest.

Student in this millenium era, they really like to post and give "Love" on Instagram.
DON'T think that your students do not have this kind of thing.
They have it, Trust me.

Instead of teaching only used whiteboard, books and laptop, you can use this application to teach in your classroom.
You can use instagram in the beginning of your lesson, as a main activity or as an closing session.
That's all up to you.

Let's take one example. We want to teach "Descriptive Text" to the students. It of course will talk about "describing person or something".
You are the one who knows well about the level of your students, so, think it well, what is the right and perfect one for your students.

Let's have "describing person" as an example.
You can ask your students to open their Instagram, and find their favorite artist that they followed.
My own opinion, they will enjoy this activity and try to find the best picture for them.

After that, ask them to describe it .
Of course, in the beginning section, you already introduce them how to describe someone.

To make it more modern,ask them to posttheir description of that person.
Ask the students to repost the picture complete with their description, and don't forget to ask them to tag that post on you Instagram account.
So, you will easily make an evaluation and give feedback of their work.

It will be fun, I think.
But, don't forget to always monitor your students from any adult thing.
You also need to check you school's wi-fi before doing this activity, Okay?

Good day, everyone.

Here is my eight daily journal about my CALL course. Don’t be bored, every one. I still have about another seven daily journals. Read it till the end, okay?

Now, this eighth meeting will talk about teaching reading skill using new thing. 

I am introduced a comic to teach reading.

Teaching reading usually is so bored.

You just asked to read, read and read again.

Read a paragraph, or even an essay.

Mostly that.

But, in this session, I am introduced to teach reading using a comic.

It can be the real comic, but here, it is a comic using online application.

You know that, reading is something that can give you many thing in this world, but it is also the most difficult one.

You need to motivate yourself to read something.

Considering that thing, teacher need to be more creative in engage and motivate the students’ literacy skill. How to make reading as the students’ habit.

So that’s why, in this meeting, I am introduced comic as one thing that can get student’s interest.

The comic can be made by the teacher, using Toondo or Pixton. Like I always said, that teacher need to be up to date to technology.

I have tried to make comic with Toondo, it’s fun and interesting. The one that you need to prepare is the idea of your comic, okay?

I think I also learn new thing from this meeting. 

Yes, how to make a comic, and how you teach reading assisted with technology.

I can use Comic as an input to give new knowledge for the student, I also can make Comic as an output for higher level of the students.

Make everything, input and output as interesting as teacher can.

I think students who read and make a comic will have so much fun. 

Because in making a comic, students will have many creative ideas and they will create the best thing they want. 

Their result, it will surprise the teacher. I belive that.

Daily Journal -10th Meeting-

Daily Journal "10th Meeting"

Hello everyone, this is my tenth meeting of CALL course.
Do you read my articles about many things dealing with technology and teaching?
You must read it, Guys, just click here.

Okay, in this meeting, I am introduced by several video converence such as Skype and Google Hangout.

These application is used as an creativity in teaching speaking. Most of the teacher, they practice the students speaking skill only in the conventional way, presenting and speak infront of the class.

Before this meeting, I already know about those two aplications, but no more than knowing the name and function. I never use it to  have a video call.
But, in this meeting, I try it all. I can use Google Hangout and Skype as well.

I will tell you my story about using Google Hangout and Skype.
Firstly, My friend and I tried to use Google Hangout. We used our mobile phone and laptop, but yeah.. the internet connection become the best problem.

Then, we decided to have Skype as a tool for our assignment. It is really difficult to find good signal and internet connection. We already make group call, but suddenly one or two friends cannot connect it. So, we have tried to do "Skype" for several times in several days.
Painful.

But, miracle comes.
In the early morning, my groups can do the videoconferece. Our faces were on the screen. We were so death happy.

We try to watch our video, and... the clouds come, the rain fall.
Our voice are not clear and our senences in and out for many times.
But, still, the good one is that the experience.

Yes, back to normal.
In this meeting, I can find that Skype is a good tool for teaching. But, the internet connection is the one that needs to be considered for our students next time.
Of course, I hope that in the future, every school has their own wi-fi and every students can use school's computer or their own mobile phone for this.

Yes, before we use tools that need to be online, consider the main thing first, such as, internet connection, computer used, and others. So, before we give it to our students, we can solve and anticipate problem that may happen.

Teacher need to know many things so they can be called as a teacher. Teacher cannot be an out of date one.
Teacher needs to master HOW to USE TECHNOLOGY for the students.

 Daily Journal "7th Meeting"

Hai everyone, another welcome from my daily journal. I hope you are not bored reading my story. Yes, I am still on the sixth semester on this CALL course.

Today, it’s seventh meeting. It will talk about how the skills are taught integrated. Yes, we cannot teach English if it’s not integrated.

Imagine, you teach listening without reading or speaking or even writing. Your students will only listen all the time and do nothing. That will be so boring and .. that’s not effective , right?

You can teach two or three skills in the same time, and that’s really good, right?

Yess. Absolutely good. 

Teaching speaking integrated with listening, it will be perfect.

And also, in this meeting we introduced how to use webquest to help our integrated skill.

Webquest is design for teacher to give material to the students. Mostly, teacher only give little explanation and give many links to read. After that, there will be a evaluation. It’s an assignment for the students. 

Yes, it’s really helpful actually for teaching.

Also, I learn how to make poster online.

Yes, it is on the Postermywall.

It’s free and easy to make.

But, for my poster submission, I need to make it several times, because in the middle of my masterpiece, it’s a postermywall watermark. And I took so long time to make that watermark gone.

Acuallly, I can do better on making this poster, but because of the limited time and internet access, i cannot do more.

In the end of this lesson, I can learn that integrated English skills is the effective one. We cannot separate one and any other skill. It’s a wasting time. Also, teaching English using webquest is also another good thing. You directly focusing what you want to teach to your students. I learn a lot.

In this meeting, I also learn a lot.

Our lecturer asked us to find out as many as possible the resources for teaching English. Yes, for all those four skills plus vocabulary and grammar.

I did that stuff with my group. Each students take one skill and try to find the resources.

After we collect it, we need to put them in term of mind map. Yes mind map.

It usually made by our pencil, books and other stuff.

Nut, this time we made it online.

It’s really new for me. 

I am introduced coogle and poplet.

Those applications are just very cool.

You can put picture and color them as you want.

And I go with coogle.

It is because if I use poplet, it need very good internet connection.

But, don’t worry, using coogle is also very nice.

Yes.. after having this as my fifth meeting, I as teacher trainee realize that in this technology world, other people was provided us so many things. They provide us many tools or application that can be used for teaching. Teacher can use it as class activity easily.

Internet connection is not the problem anymore later. Teacher need to know all those stuffs and develop their creative activity how to use it in the classroom.

Remember, teacher's idea is the expensive one. Make your students' day as fun as you can.

Hello hello hi. It’s me again in another week of my CALL Course.

Yes, I am still in the sixth semester with a mountain of assignment. But, that’s okay.

I am happy with it because I am in my own track; being a teacher.

Yup, this is my sixth meeting. Its title is blogs for teaching.

We are introduced how to use and manage blog for teaching. So, the teacher and students do not only meet in the classroom, but they also communicate by blog.

There are several types of blog. Blog that consist of teacher, students and material is educational blog.

Also, blog for your own needed is personal blog.

We are asked to have our personal blog about this CALL course that looks professional.
If you read this blog, Teacher’s Path, it is my blog for this sixth meeting submission.

Yes, after having this meeting. I realize that make a blog is easy, but manage it is the difficult one. You need to be patient and willingly post regularly on your blog. If you don’t do that, it’s just a waste.

In teaching process, teacher usually asked the students to make a product that can be sticked in the classroom wall. It will be so various. It can be a letter, memo, brochure, notice, and poster.  Those products usually as the produc of writing activity. besides the content of those product, the creativity and the skill of the students are also be trained.

is one of the art of design grafic. It is a combining form of picture and letter. the poster can be mad originally or handmade just like stick or draw a picture and letter on the big paper. it can be made creatively using color pen and many other object.

This is the next part of Online Resourcer for ESL Teachers. It will be focus on "Writing". Another challenge for teachers is teaching writing which is known as the most difficult skill to teach. But, remember, nothing now is difficult to do by teachers since the technology is hand in hand helped the teaching process.

English teachers who get difficulties finding material especially "Listening Materials", be calm and prepare your laptop, Teachers. Nowadays, with technology everything become easy and simple. It is also useful in finding listening materials in the Internet. Teachers will be very helpful if they can use technology in the right and appropriate way in their teaching.

Timeline usually made to tell the history of something or biography of someone. Rather than ask the students write in their book many paragraph to tell the history, it is more creative and interesting to ask them make a timeline.

Mind Mapping

Mind Map 

A mind map is a diagram used to visually organize information. It usually uses to depict what is in mind by only write the "keyword". Everyone must be known how to make mindmap. Yes, mind map is easy to make by putting the broadest topic or idea in the center, then make you can draw line to make branch with the more specific topic. 

In the EFL Classroom, teacher can use mind map in the learning activities such as in the Brainstorming activity, Note-taking activity, and Summarizing.

 

However, in this millenium era, making mindmap using technology is as easy as make it conventionally. It's a lot easier actually. You can make minmap creatively and colorful. You can make it easily using these two online web;
